How To Install SBS 2011 With A Bootable USB Drive

If you dont have the Installation CD nearby, so then you have to create a bootable Installation Media with Windows SBS 2011. This is a how to:

What you’ll need:

• ISO of SBS 2011 Standard (6.35 GB)
• USB flash drive
• A way to mount the ISO
• A Windows PC 64bit OS required (not the SBS box itself) to create the bootable drive

Step by Step

1. Mount the ISO image
2. Open Command Prompt with Administrative Privileges
3. type Diskpart (hit enter)
4. List disk (hit enter)
5. Locate the USB Disk
6. SELECT DISK 3 (or whatever your USB disk number is)
7. CLEAN
8. CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
9. SELECT PARTITION 1
10. ACTIVE
11. FORMAT FS=NTFS QUICK
12. ASSIGN
13. Exit

Next we need to make the USB drive bootable. Type the following commands (hitting Enter after each one):

cd boot

Bootsect.exe /NT60 H: (H: is the usb Drive and the bootsect.exe you can download from the internet)

Now you can copy the files from, the Iso image to the usb drive
